Key Takeaways

• The oversized centered pill cutout for 3D Face Unlock eats massive status bar space, intruding ugly black notches into widescreen videos.
• MagicOS background memory policies kill messaging apps aggressively when idle, missing urgent notifications.
• At nearly 9mm thick and over 225g, the slick quad-curved glass body feels cumbersome and prone to accidental slips.
• Macro autofocus switches erratically between main and telephoto lenses, stuttering and jumping focus frames awkwardly.

✅ Pros

• 4320Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming Oasis eye-care screen
• Hardware 3D structured light unlocks instantly in pitch-black rooms
• 200MP periscope telephoto captures remarkable distant textures

❌ Cons

• Giant centered pill cutout ruins video immersion
• Excessive background app terminations cause missed alerts
• Bulky 9mm thickness and 225g slippery heft
• Erratic focal jumping during close-up macro switches

📝 Verdict

"Magic7 Pro has world-class eye-care glass hindered by a glaring pill cutout, aggressive app kills, and bulky heft."

Key points

• The main camera has a dual f/1.4/f/2.0 aperture, and there's a new 200MP 3x telephoto; the chip is stronger and charging is faster.
• Glass back, a 120Hz screen with slightly curved edges, and enough outdoor brightness (about 750 nits measured in manual mode).
• The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate, plus there's 3D face unlock.
• The test unit is the 5,270mAh version, with a battery test result of 13 hours 45 minutes, not much different from the previous model.
• The main camera's daytime colors and dynamic range are good, but sharpness falls short with noticeable oversharpening; all cameras can record 4K 60fps.

✅ Pros

• Good screen
• Good battery life
• 3D face unlock
• Consistent camera overall

❌ Cons

• Very little progress over the Magic6 Pro
• Oversharpened main camera photos

A good flagship, but not much has changed; if you don't need the latest model, the previous Magic6 Pro saves money.
