Key points

• In blind tests, the Magic8 Pro's photos have more natural colors and better dynamic range; the main camera focuses as close as about 2.5cm.
• The telephoto goes from 3x to 3.7x, and the main and telephoto cameras are rebranded as "Ultra Night" cameras focused on night shooting; with CIPA 5.5-stop stabilization, handheld night shots are steadier.
• HD Super Burst can capture sharp faces of people on a fast roller coaster; cloud AI enhancement makes zoom beyond 10x clearer (requires an internet connection).
• It records 4K at 120fps, with more consistent color when switching lenses and better stabilization; Log recording is hidden in Pro mode.
• The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 runs smoothly; the UK / European model has 6,270mAh, other regions 7,100mAh and China 7,200mAh.
• Its eye-comfort features (high-frequency PWM and more) are among the best in the industry, with 6,000 nits HDR peak brightness; there are lots of AI features, but the AI settings assistant can do only so much.

• Big camera gains, especially at night
• Excellent stabilization and burst shooting
• Strong eye-comfort display
• Fast charging

Key points

• The back is fiber-reinforced plastic with an aluminum frame, rated IP68 / IP69K; a new AI key (camera control) has a physical press and senses pressure and swipes.
• 6.71-inch LTPO OLED, measured at over 1,800 nits max and up to 5,200 nits in small areas; 3D ToF face unlock + ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
• The speakers earned an "Excellent" loudness rating with great sound quality; IR blaster; 512GB for the global model.
• Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5: in performance mode it throttles heavily after about 5 minutes, while balanced mode is stable but with a lower ceiling.
• The European model has 6,270mAh (China model: 7,200mAh), with an Active Use score of about 19 hours; 100W charging fills it in about 40 minutes, and generic 100W PD chargers are just as fast.
• The main camera excels day and night, and the 200MP 3.7x telephoto captures great detail, though AI-enhanced telephoto sometimes garbles text; the ultrawide is excellent in daylight but average at night; the selfie camera lacks autofocus, and video sharpness trails rivals.

• 3D face unlock and camera control key

❌ Cons

• Soft video, with poor detail in night video
